Truck Strikes Family in Walnut Creek

A tragic truck accident shocked the community of Walnut Creek. On September 8th a truck left the roadway and struck a family that was walking on an adjacent sidewalk. Reports claim that the truck was travelling southbound on North Main Street near Interstate 680 when it inexplicably veered off the roadway and barreled into a family of four. A group of employees and guests at a nearby Marriot Hotel witnessed the freighting accident.

Unfortunatly, one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified by authorities as 52-year-old Sherry Hicks of Santa Barbara, California. Mrs. Hicks was reportedly a compassionate, dedicated math teacher at Oak Grove Charter School in Los Olivos having traveled to Walnut Creek with her husband to visit their son and his new wife. The family was taking an evening stroll when this heartbreaking accident occurred.

The wife, who was reportedly with child, was also struck by the truck. She was transported to John Muir Medical Center and is currently in critical condition. The driver of the truck has been identified as 53-year-old Hossein Tabrizi of Walnut Creek. Tabrizi suffered undisclosed injuries and received treatment at a hospital after the accident. He was then arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter Toxicology results are pending to determine whether he was under the influence at the time of the collision. Recent news reports have indicated that Tabrizi had two prior arrests for DUI’s on his record.
